Resurrection Mary Art Show at Chet’s Melody Lounge, Nov. 3-9

Curious Art Glass presents a Resurrection Mary-themed Art Show at Chet’s Melody Lounge (7400 S. Archer Rd. Justice, Illinois, across from Resurrection Cemetery) November 3-9, 2014. Resurrection Mary is southwest Chicago’s most famous phantom hitchhiker, and she has been known to make appearances at Chet’s. Micah, organizer of the event, says:

Chet’s Melody Lounge is the perfect place for my art show as it plays a big part in Mary’s legend. A blue collar roadhouse sitting directly across from Resurrection Cemetery, step through the door and go back in time…dark paneled 1970’s vibe, Polish beer signs in neon, a friendly welcome, and out back a big gravel driveway and beer garden lorded over by a pair of bounding Dobermans.

Don’t drink and drive, but further down Archer Road through poorly lit light industrial this and that is the Willowbrook Ballroom and the spooky, thick forest preserves of Cook County. This is the corridor Resurrection Mary roams.

A small art show, this is a labor of love in stained glass, neon and graphite. I’m setting up on banquet tables usually reserved for Bear’s game buffets. Nothing’s priced, no formal reception… to be honest I imagine sitting at the end of the bar drinking an Ike Turner and wearing a party hat waiting for people to come.

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event! Come for the art and stay for the refreshments. Who knows, you just might encounter Chicago’s very own legendary blonde phantom.
