The New Issue of the Legends and Lore of Illinois has Arrived!
Starting with Resurrection Cemetery and ending at St. James-Sag Church, this section of Archer Avenue forms the northern border of a triangle of forest preserves, lakes, trails, and burial grounds that could easily be described as the most haunted place in Chicago. It is a hilly, wooded area filled with over a dozen small lakes and sloughs. This area has a well deserved reputation built upon generations of strange encounters, which make it a favorite for ghost tours, paranormal researchers, and curiosity seekers alike. Maple Lake’s spook lights, Fairmount Hills Cemetery, the “Gray Baby” of Sacred Heart Cemetery, Healing Waters Park, and the phantom riders of 95th and Kean are just some of Archer Avenue’s fascinating stories and mystery sites.

From “The Fallen Investigate”:
As Greg and Mike turned their backs to Maple Lake, an orange ball of light, about a foot in diameter, flickered in the middle of the lake, just above the reflection of the moon. It sat there, steadily, as Greg and Mike mounted their GS500Es, then it vanished as quickly as it had arrived.
The pair made their way through the deserted streets of Willow Springs, turned down Kean Avenue, and pulled into the parking lot of Hidden Pond Woods. The woods were just a few yards north of the intersection of 95th and Kean. Aurelia, Davin, and Emmer stood next to Mike’s dark blue Toyota Corolla. They were chatting, laughing, and gesturing excitedly as Mike and Greg stopped their motorcycles in an adjacent parking space. As soon as they cut the engines, Davin blurted, “You guys just missed the most incredible thing you’ve ever seen!”
